Debating Matters
The collaboration between our Year 10 and Year 6 debaters during lunchtime sessions is a testament to the power of mentorship and peer learning in education.
These interactions go beyond just teaching the technicalities of debate – they instil confidence, critical thinking, and communication skills in our younger Barbreck students.
Through these sessions, Year 6 debaters learn the art of structuring arguments and presenting them persuasively and gain valuable insights from experienced debaters. The mentorship from our Year 10 debaters fosters a supportive environment where questions are encouraged, ideas are explored, and growth is nurtured.
The lunchtime sessions serve as a platform for building camaraderie and friendships across Year levels, enhancing the sense of community within St Catherine’s.
This collaborative approach to learning not only enhances academic skills but also cultivates empathy, teamwork, and a passion for intellectual discourse among students of all ages.
