Outstanding 2011 VCE Results
St Catherine’s School’s 2011 Year 12 students have again distinguished themselves as a year level, this time in the academic arena, and they are to be heartily congratulated for their fine efforts. A remarkable year of wide ranging achievements has culminated in some truly exceptional results in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE):
- 4% of students recorded Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) scores of 99 or higher (placing them in the top 1% of all Victorian students);
- 29% achieved scores of 95 and above which places them in the top 5% of the State;
- 43% achieved scores of 90 and above which places them in the top 10% of the State;
- Perfect study scores were attained in: English, Literature and Dance;
- Study Score of 45 or above (top 2%) were attained in 8 subjects: Art, Business Management, Dance, English, Health and Human Development, Further Mathematics, Literature and Mathematical Methods.
Acknowledging our 2011 Dux
Congratulations to the Dux of St Catherine’s School for 2011, Amelia Hamer, who achieved an ATAR of 99.8. Amelia gained perfect study scores of 50 in English, Literature and Philosophy (2010), 40 in Mathematical Methods, 38 in Japanese and 38 in Music. This year, Amelia also completed first year University Philosophy as part of her VCE. She was awarded the 2011 University of Melbourne Extension Program Prize for Academic Excellence. This prize recognises the highest achieving Extension Program Philosophy student who also obtained an overall result of first class honours (H1).
