St Catherine’s provides a wide range of aquatic programs utilising our state of the art Marigold Southey Sports & Aquatic Centre.
We provide a wide range of Aquatic Activities at the Marigold Southey Sports and Aquatic Centre. During school hours, Physical Education classes operate throughout the day incorporating a range activities such as Diving, Underwater Hockey and Swimming and Life Saving Skills.
Learn To Swim
H2O Swimming Works provide after-school Learn to Swim progams. Offered on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, the programs cater to ages 3 years and above. The aim of the Learn To Swim program is to equip students with the fundamentals of good stroke technique as well as water safety skills and knowledge to help students become safer around aquatic environments.
Class sizes are small and the longer 45 minute lessons for swimmers 4 years and over ensures sufficient time to revise and consolidate skills.
For busy parents, the Holiday Intensives are a great way to fast track skills
Swimmers in the H2O Squad Program move toward becoming a lap swimmer and learn new skills such as starting and turning, understanding simple training ‘sets’, and building distance. Technique is constantly developed in all squad programs.
- Squad programs include:
Swim Fit Teen Squad: 60-minute sessions are designed for those who wish to include swimming as part of their overall fitness regime while improving technique and learning new skills.
Development Squad: 90-minute sessions for those who may want to train more seriously or compete. There is a greater focus on developing racing skills, increasing fitness and improving technique.
Swimmers aiming to succeed at the highest level can move into the H2O State and National Squads when ready.
St Catherine’s School Squads
Students who are interested in representing the school and competing in inter-school competitions in Term 1, can train in the GSV (Senior School) and SSV (Junior school) squads in Term 4 and Term 1 in preparation for their respective championship events.
H2O provides a wide range of programs for all ages and abilities. These are offered to current parents, staff, Old Girls and the greater School Community.
- Adult Learn to Swim: Group or private lessons are available from timid beginners to fitness swimmers wanting to improve strokes and are held in the evenings or Saturday morning.
- Swim Fit Adult Squad: Trains on Monday and Wednesday mornings for 60 minutes and can be tailored to suit your fitness level and goals.
