Snowsports Swap – What an Event!

This year we celebrated our 10th Annual Snowsports Swap, an amazing effort and achievement. A big thank you to Lisa Steven who initiated this event 10 years ago. We hope it won’t be her last year given her daughter Sarah is finishing Year 12 at the end of the year. Thank you Lisa for all your ongoing support and help.
We have definitely come a long way since our first Swap. This year we implemented a Point of Sale System, thanks to Lisa James (uniform shop) and the team from IT who helped make this all happen.
The work involved for the Swap is enormous, and the same dedicated group of mums, dads and girls gave up Saturday and Sunday to join together to make this fundraising event such a success for the Snowsports Auxiliary.
This year we tagged 1,480 items, the pictures below tell the story.
The Snowsports Auxiliary at St Catherine’s are providing a valuable recycling service to the snow community far and wide.
The bargains and results were amazing. In two hours we sold:
  • 105 pairs of Skis
  • 85 pairs of Ski boots
  • 250 Ski Jackets
  • 30 Snowboards
  • 90 sets of poles

The cake stall and the egg, bacon and sausage stall also made a positive contribution to the day. Total sales were over $53,000, with profits to the Snowsports Auxiliary $16,000. We could not do this without our army of volunteers, who all displayed an amazing work ethic tagging, sorting, entering, calculating, setting up the hall, emptying the hall, purchasing, selling and keeping our customers happy.

This year we are sending  two large boxes of adult ski gear to Off the Back, an amazing charity set up by Toni Joel (Silver ’82 ) and a group of past mums from nine years ago. Spare jackets and pants are going to keep our homeless warm this winter, four super large bags of children’s ski gear was also delivered to the Salvation Army, providing clothing items affordable to those much less fortunate.
Tamsin and I would like to thank St Catherine’s School for their support, the Marketing Department and Ms Meredith Taylor, Peter, Jay and their team in Maintenance who provide access to the School and help us set up the Hall. The Business Office who behind the scenes provide us tremendous support and this year IT for the help and assistance with the POS System.
The funds raised this year are going to support our 2018 St Catherines Snowsports team with Cross Country and Snowboarding lessons and equipment. With snow forecast this week, we look forward to the ongoing success of the St Catherine’s Snowsports Program.
Look forward to catching up soon, Term 3 will be here very soon.
