Music Notes
We are fortunate to have a vibrant and busy Music Program at St Catherines, and I am privileged to work with the highly talented and experienced Music staff members who create such a vibrant program.
Whilst there is a sense of sadness to see our Year 12 musicians depart the School for the next stage of their lives, we do have the opportunity to move students into our 2026 Ensembles. The Senior Concert Band, Jorgenson Orchestra, Senior Strings and Jazz Band already have welcomed new students, with the intention of working on repertoire for 2026.
There are still plenty of performances planned for Term 4. Most recently, we have seen three full days of AMEB exams for our string, vocal and woodwind students, and the halls of 15A have been filled with the sounds of rehearsals and final preparations. Recently we also had some of our singers and guitarists performing duos at lunchtime near the café. It was lovely to see their talents on display during what proved to be a lovely blue-sky afternoon.
Upcoming Performances:
- Thursday 6 November: Junior School Art Show; select student soloist
- Sunday 9 November: Remembrance Day Service at St Johns; select students involved
- Tuesday 18 November: Junior School Concert
- Thursday 20 November: Speech Night; for select ensembles
- Thursday 27 November: String Masterclass with Jenny Khafagi
- Friday 28 November: Christmas Fair
I look forward at seeing many of you at some, or all, of these events.
