This week we take you Around the Grounds at St Catherine’s – from the roar of the track to the splash of the pool, the buzz of the courts to the chill of the snowfields. It’s been a big week of competition, training and teamwork, with highlights across every corner of our sports program. Here’s the latest from our athletes, coaches and teams in action.

Athletics

Athletics at St Catherine’s continued to showcase the impressive and resilient nature of our girls. After finishing 7th in the Division 2 Championship on Wednesday 28 August, 18 girls qualified for the GSV Finals Evening at Lakeside Stadium on Tuesday 9 September. Our students had great success, securing 7th place overall with 14 medals – 5 Gold, 5 Silver, and 4 Bronze.

Gymnastics

The inspiring results continue as we congratulate Alexi (Year 7) on her recent selection for the AIS High Performance Gymnastics Camp. This follows her outstanding performance at the Australian Gymnastics Championships in July.

Swimming

Last weekend, our students showcased their talents and determination at the Victorian State Age Short Course Swimming event, highlighting their skill, dedication and sportsmanship. It was wonderful to see the girls supporting one another, celebrating achievements and giving their best in every event. Congratulations to all students; an amazing achievement to compete at such a high level.

Year 6 District Cricket

On Thursday 11 September, our Year 6 cricket team had the exciting opportunity to represent our school in the very first district cricket competition, hosted at Sacré Cœur. It was a fantastic day of sport and school spirit.

Throughout the competition, St Catherine’s played three matches against Sacré Cœur, Loreto, and Melbourne Girls Grammar. In every game, our team demonstrated outstanding determination, perseverance and teamwork. Overall, it was a brilliant day, and we are proud to share that St Catherine’s came home with third place!

Year 6 Hockey

On Thursday 11 September, our Year 6 Hockey team represented St Catherine’s at the SSV State Hockey Primary Girls Championship at the Footscray Hockey Centre, the final stage of an incredible journey through the District, Regional and now State competitions.

Australian Nationals Interschools

The Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships was held from Tuesday 2 September until Sunday 7 September, with students from Prep through to Year 12 competing.

Our Primary divisions finished 4th overall and our Secondary divisions finished 5th overall. Congratulations to all participants!
