This week, our school spirit soared to new heights as the St Catherine’s swimming team made a splash at the Armadale District Swimming Carnival. It was a day filled with excitement, determination, and, ultimately, triumph as our talented athletes showcased their skills in the pool. 

Under the bright sun and clear skies, the Armadale District Swimming Carnival unfolded into a spectacle of athleticism and camaraderie. Our girls, after weeks of rigorous training and unwavering dedication, were more than prepared to take on the competition. With swimming captains Salina Zhang (Yr 6) & Ivy Zu (Yr 6), leading the team to start the day, with hearts pounding and adrenaline pumping, they dove into the water, ready to give it their all to represent St Catherine’s.  

From the first stroke to the final lap, our St Catherine’s girls delivered standout performances that left spectators in awe. Led by the stellar efforts of swimmers like Abigail Chan, Mariella Simmons, Kimberly Chen, Ivy Zu, Cate Barry and Matea Bjazevic, the entire team demonstrated unparalleled skill and determination. Their relentless pursuit of excellence propelled them to victory after victory, setting the stage for an unforgettable day of swimming.  

Amidst the excitement, another remarkable highlight unfolded as our Year 4 students made their debut at their first-ever Interschool swimming carnival. Nerves were certainly present, but these young students rose to the occasion with courage and determination. As the races unfolded, it quickly became apparent that this would be a day to remember. Our Blue Ribbon girls adorned with Blue ribbons on their chests, signalling victory after victory. And as if that weren’t enough, several records broken as our athletes pushed the boundaries of what was thought possible. It was a testament to their hard work, talent, and unwavering determination. 

But perhaps the crowning moment of the day came when the final results were announced. With pride swelling in our hearts, we watched as our St Catherine’s swimming team was declared the overall winners of the Armadale District Swimming Carnival. Walking away as the 2024 Armadale District Swimming Champions, our girls proved once again that with dedication, teamwork, and passion, anything is possible.
