Kindness Through Year 2

In our Year 2 classroom we have recently introduced the Kindness Ball initiative which has had a remarkable impact on our students’ wellbeing.

Every morning, students select a classmate’s name from a pool and conduct an act of kindness throughout the day or share a genuine compliment with their designated friend.

This simple concept has fostered a sense of camaraderie and positivity in our classroom and has encouraged our students to become more mindful in their interactions.

It is heartening to see how our girls have embraced this idea and woven it into our learning environment, creating a lively tradition of tracking the Kindness Ball as it circulates among them.

Research shows that kindness boosts self-esteem, enhances empathy and compassion, and uplifts mood. We have seen firsthand how a simple gesture can create a chain reaction of positivity that permeates our learning space.

The Kindness Ball aligns seamlessly with our wellbeing program, The Resilience Project, which aims to foster gratitude and kindness towards others. It has played a vital role in creating a classroom brimming with joy and a learning environment primed for success.
