From our Library Captains

As the Library Captains, we have numerous responsibilities that revolve around the care of our Library and ensuring that everyone can enjoy reading. Every lunchtime from Monday to Wednesday, we open the Library for students to engage in various activities such as borrowing, reading, playing board games, or drawing.

Regularly, we have meetings with Mrs Requin, our teacher librarian. These meetings provide us with an opportunity to discuss and organise our speeches before our fortnightly presentations at Assembly. During these meetings, we come up with new library challenges, such as riddles, and review the answers from previous challenges. When it’s time for our presentations, we discuss important rules within the Library, distribute prizes to challenge winners, and announce the correct answers to the challenges.

Becoming a Library Captain was a goal that we all aspired to achieve. We share a deep love for reading and enjoy spending time in the comfort of the Barbreck Library. Whenever younger students enquire about our current reads, we eagerly explain and recommend books to them. If they require assistance in finding books beyond their reach, we gladly lend a hand in their search or retrieve the desired book for them.

As the Term 2 holidays are fast approaching, we recommend that students spend their time exploring new books and immersing themselves in the joy of reading. Our Library is filled with fantastic books waiting to be discovered, including popular series like The Hunger Games and Jack Heath’s Minute series.

We draw inspiration from the past Library Captains who guided us. We are determined to uphold the pride and honour that comes with being a Library Captain.
