Our Year 3 girls have started the year wonderfully!

They have embraced their new classes and responsibilities with confidence, determination, and big smiles on their faces.

In Mathematics, the girls explored the different properties of 2D and 3D shapes. They have learnt how to identify shapes within familiar environments and how to construct a shape from a net.

One subject that has proven to be a favourite with the girls is English. Through individualised spelling lists and texts to read, the girls have developed amazing routines and work samples. They have demonstrated immense enthusiasm while learning about the language features of narratives and are looking forward to being able to let their creativity flow when they write their own.

Specialist lessons and co-curricular activities are in full swing with the girls noting that some of their favourites are Barbreck Club, Junior Joggers, Netfit and Art Club.

When asked what they have enjoyed the most about the start of Year 3, the girls shared:

“I enjoyed discovering that some 3D shapes have the same amount of faces, edges and vertices.”

“I’ve loved learning about everything in class and making new friends.”

“I like how we do spelling! Every week is different and it’s challenging when we do the editing activities.”

“Being with my friends and new teacher!”

“It was really fun to learn about shapes and being able to see how new shapes are formed.”

“Using the highlighters to look at different features in our writing and in the stories we read. It has been really fun!”

Everyone in Year 3 is looking forward to a brilliant year ahead!
