From the Classroom: First Week of Prep 2022

On Tuesday our big (little) Preps finally got to wear their St Catherine’s School dresses and walk into the Barbreck building for their first day of Prep.

Our time has been spent learning the routines of School. We covered questions such as:

  • What is a pencil case?
  • Where is the rubbish bin?
  • What is a grey lead?
  • How do we walk in a line? and
  • How do we pack our bags?

We are taking the time to move around our classroom and School, so we feel comfortable that we know where things are. We are learning one another’s names and seeing what it feels like to speak and play with different people.

Taking our time at this early stage is so very important. Learning routines, fostering independence and feeling connected to School all contribute to building a platform for future learning.

The Prep girls did such a good job on their first week of Prep. It has been rewarding watching the girls grow in confidence each day. They should all be very proud of themselves.

Please enjoy some of the photos from our first week.
