From the Classroom: Year 2 Back at School

I think it is fair to say that in the past couple of years, we have all learnt to be flexible and adapt to change.

During Learn@Home, we had many discussions online as a class, acknowledging the many difficulties and disappointments we were experiencing during lockdown.

Throughout our conversations, no matter how many times we tried to focus on the positive aspects of our experiences, there was always one experience that was missed by all, they missed their friends, and the many opportunities to socialise with them.

It has been wonderful to welcome the girls back into the classroom and for them to spend time with their friends once more. Below are some reflections from our students on returning back to School.

Shama Aljneibi

When I got back to School I felt sad and excited. I felt sad because I didn’t have my family close by, and I felt happy because I saw my friends and teachers.

Catherine Barry

When I went back to School I felt happy because I got to socialise with my friends. My favourite part was when I started a book with my friend Sylvanas.

Grace Chatfield

I felt so excited when we went back to School. I was excited to see my friends and teachers. At the start I was a little bit nervous. The best part was playing with my friends.

Yolanda Gu

If I go back to School, I would be excited to see my friends back together again. It’s been a long time since we were in the classroom.

Miranda Jie

Before I arrived at School I felt really excited and happy, but a little nervous too. During class, I was getting used to it but I was still happy and when it got to recess and lunch I was running around everywhere. After school I was exhausted!

Georgia Ktenavos

The night before we came to School I could not sleep at all because I was so happy! When I arrived at School, I loved seeing all of my friends. We played and had so much fun together!

Alice Mackenzie

A few things I liked about returning to School were, being able to see my friends and teachers face-to-face, and playing exciting games in the playground. I’ve missed everyone so much and can’t wait to continue being together.

Ella Pattison

On Thursday morning I woke up feeling so desperate to go back to School. When I got to School, I was so excited to see my friends and my lovely teacher. When it was lunch, I quickly burst out the door, because I couldn’t wait to go and play in the playground again and play with my friends. When it was the end of the day I was so sad to leave because I had so much fun!

Ashley Siswanto

I felt nervous when I got back to School. I liked seeing my friends and my teachers. It was amazing! I really don’t want to go back into lockdown because it will be a lot harder, and I will miss my friends and teachers again. Now I am going to miss being at home, because I can’t see my family a lot during school time.

Sophie Sprott

I felt very happy because I had really missed my friends. I couldn’t wait to go on the play equipment with them and hug them tightly!

Nina Steedman

I felt amazing when I went back to School because I was so happy to see my friends and teachers. I also felt nervous because I thought I was going to forget something from my tub!

Elizabeth Switkowski

I felt excited to come back to School. The best part was seeing my friends. I felt exhausted when I got home.

Amelia Wood

I felt like bursting with excitement because I got to see my friends and teachers. I also felt grateful because Mrs Ballis let us bring a stuffed toy, just in case we were feeling a little unsure. I brought my tiger called Tigger.

Sylvanas Zhu

I felt excited and nervous coming back to School because I was excited to meet my friends in person, and nervous because I haven’t been at School in a long time. I was so used to being at home. The best part about coming back to School was meeting my friends and sitting next to them.

Sensory Poems

This Term the girls explored poetry and developed their own poems, describing the four seasons and their thoughts and feelings surrounding them. Please enjoy the Year 2 poetry recital on Sensory Seasons.
