Junior School – Year 2 Update – Exploring Technology

This Term, the girls in Year 2, for their Unit of Investigation, have begun to explore technology from the past as well as the present. They commenced by reflecting about their experiences at Como House, and they realised that technology does not necessarily have to involve electricity.

The girls thought about the technology in their daily lives and compared technology from the past and present. During the process, they realised that some pieces of technology are still around today, albeit a more modern and improved version, while some older pieces of technology are no longer used today. The girls also selected a piece of technology of their choice to write an information report about.

TV

Introduction

The first TV was invented in 1927. The TV is a machine we watch cartoons and TV shows on so you don’t need DVDs. When they’re in the dark, they glow.

Look and Size

A big screen at the front needs some remote controls to control the TV. They have little dots on the sides so you can hear. TVs are a bigger version of an iPad but with no wallpaper. They’re different sizes like small, medium and large. The small one is bad for your eyes.

How it works?

It can connect to DVD players, antenna and Apple TV and just dance with HDMI cable. The remote controls can change different channels. You can watch news and movies from different devices. ABC Kids is in the air, you just can’t see it. The antenna on the roof sucks it in and then you can watch it.

Conclusion

Some people watch TV on the weekends but some watch it every day which is bad for your eyes because you have to wear glasses. Watching TV is something that’s on my list of things to do on the weekend.
