Barbreck Update – engaging in learning and wonderful activities

This week I have been spending some time in various classrooms, sharing the learning experiences with the girls. I have observed girls who are engaged in their learning and the wonderful activities that the teachers have prepared for them. Our girls are so fortunate to have the creative and often energetic talents of the teachers at St Catherine’s. Being in the classrooms has made me wish I could magically be at Barbreck for my primary years!

Our girls are offered so many different experiences in a week! They could be choosing to try the techniques of various artists, listen to wonderful orchestras, read books that take them on far flung journeys, use Lego to design and construct, follow recipes to bake cupcakes for the family, dance with the class, learn about world explorers and much more.

I have had the opportunity this week to be able to team-teach with Ms Yu-Chun Wang in Year 2. I would like to thank Ms Wang and the Year 2 girls for such warm welcomes and for letting me teach them in class or in small groups – what a delightful group of girls they were! While it has been some time since I taught Year 2, it rekindled that wonderful feeling that I know all teachers have when they are in the teaching moment, helping students to learn. Teachers have such rewarding times in the classroom.

This is the mid-way point for the term and we are on the downward run to the holidays. We have five weeks to go!

I encourage all of the girls and parents to do the best they can!

Over the last part of the term we will be trying to add some new interests into the week, so stay tuned.
