District Diving

Once again, St Catherine’s School were host to the District Diving Carnival on Thursday 26 April. The carnival saw close to 100 competitors from Years 4 to 6 from seven of the schools in our district.

The 9/10 years age category girls, although a little nervous in their first competition, jumped and dived well in the B Division. Lulu Kyriakou placed second with Erin Jurgens placing ninth, and Hollie Pringle and Giselle Mangano a little further back in the field.

Our 11 years age category participants all competed in B Division as well. Audrey Doan placed third, Bella Burdett-Moore fifth and Louella Simpson and Portia Gowrie behind them.

The standard of dives performed by some of the 12/13 year old competitors was quite amazing. Our girls were in awe of the skill level from the Firbank girls. Lilla Barrington finished a very admirable fourth behind the three Firbank divers in the A Division competition. She performed all her three dives very well and was so thrilled with her result. Scarlett Pringle and Indi Cunningham also competed in A Division whilst Arabella placed in third position in B Division.

Congratulations to the following girls:

10 years- Lulu Kyriakou, Hollie Pringle, Giselle Mangano and Erin Jurgens

11 years- Portia Gowrie, Audrey Doan, Bella Burdett-Moore and Louella Simpson

12 years- Lilla Barrington, Indi Cunningham, Scarlett Pringle and Arabella Bertalli

The experience of diving under the pressure of a competition is a valuable lesson for all of our girls. Seeing how well other girls can dive is inspirational for our girls.
