 Winter Uniform Term 2

As Term 2 commences in mid-April this year, the weather is likely to still be fine and warm on various days.

Parents are advised that choices between summer and winter uniform can be made (according to the weather) for the first three weeks of Term 2. The official day for the wearing of winter uniform is Monday 7 May. This date will be reviewed and adjusted if the weather still remains warm.

The new Junior School Preparations

From many conversations with staff, parents and students, I know we are all becoming very excited as the new Junior School moves closer to completion. Throughout Term 2, you will notice staff gradually starting to pack classrooms ready for the move. Please be assured that educational programs will not be affected by this, and will run as normal. Parents will also be provided with updates throughout the Term. If you have any concerns please speak with your classroom teacher or make an appointment to see me.

Wet Weather Pick up Arrangements

As we move into Term 2, and there is a greater possibility of inclement weather, please note that if it is raining at pick-up time we will have students wait either under the cover of the Marigold Southey Aquatic Centre or in the Junior School foyer with the teacher on duty. Could we please ask that parents come down to the Junior School and collect children on these days.

Kindness

Towards the end of Term 1, we had a focus on ‘kindness’ in our Junior School assemblies. This focus will continue into Term 2. So far, we have focused on showing kindness through being caring, compassionate, respectful and helpful. Year 6 students have reflected on quotes by sharing their interpretations, while the School Captains have written their own speeches about what kindness looks like in the Junior School.

During the Year 4 camp, the Year 4 students participated in a wellbeing session, in which they made origami butterflies and wrote statements, sharing acts of kindness that had been displayed to them throughout the camp. They created a lovely display on their return.

Year 4 Camp Reflection

As part of the Year 4 reflection on camp, students created PowerPoint presentations recounting their camp experiences. One reflection from Rose Sumithran can be read here.

St Catherine’s Co-curricular Survey

Thank you to those parents who have completed the Co-curricular Survey. We welcome those who have not yet completed the survey to do so by Friday 20 April.

This survey seeks to further understand the additional programs your children may be interested in participating in and provides the opportunity for you to guide the future program offerings and scheduling of additional opportunities. Please select the preferred programs for your child that align with the Fundamental Motors Skills Program that may be offered in the future in addition to identifying the programs your children already participate in via the survey link here.

Further information regarding the Fundamental Motor Skills Program can be found within the survey itself.
