2017 was another history making regatta for St Catherine’s School Rowing

With an impressive 14 A Final making crews, five Division wins, five other medal winning crews and three fourth places, the 2017 Head of the Schoolgirls was St Catherine’s School most successful and reaffirmed that, while we may be a small School, we continue to ‘punch well above our weight’.

  • All Senior crews with the two senior VIIIs and the Senior Quad earning a silver medal
  • All Intermediate crews made the A Final with four division wins and two medals
  • 5/9 Junior crews made the A final with one division wins and two medals. Our Junior programs’ success was a credit to our coaching staff as their steady improvement throughout the season has been of great excitement to watch.

Results aside, most impressive was the way in which our students conducted themselves throughout the weekend. We evaluate ourselves on how well we fulfil our 3Ps – Preparation, Pride and Professionalism. As Head of Rowing, I have seen nothing less than all students working at their absolute best. Honesty of effort from the students was fantastic. They have supported each other, remained respectful to each other and the opposition and at all times were determined to continue having fun. As a coaching team, we are all very excited to see our Rowers continue to enjoy their Rowing in the coming season. You can view full Rowing updates in mystcatherines.

The Senior VIIIs, now progress to the Australian National Rowing Championships in Sydney from 29 March to 2 April 2017.

Week 8 Sports Roundup

The St Catherine’s Diving Squad had the great honour of competing in the GSV Division 1 Diving Championship Carnival. Having qualified through to the premier division, the girls came up against well-established diving schools such as MLC and Firbank, requiring our girls to harness their training and execute their dives to the best of their ability. The final result saw St Catherine’s finish 8th.However, the day proved to be a great learning experience and a testament to all the girls for competing at such a high level. The best diver overall was senior diver, Laetitia Donato, scoring 158.40, coming 3rd place in A division. The highest scoring inter and junior divers from our School were Lily Trosdal Ryan and Ava Lansell. An honourable mention to Erin O’Brien for coming 2nd in her division and to Selina Pigram for most improved diver, after adding over 12 points to her score from prelims.

Well done to all the girls involved and a big thank you to Mrs Jenny De Nardis, Annabel Young and Annabelle Smith for their hard work within the program.
