The Sports Auxiliary and Sports Department held the annual Celebration of Sport Evening during Week 1 of this term. With over 160 guests in attendance, this was a great opportunity to acknowledge our sporting achievements, with a focus on our teams and athletes who competed in the Girls Sport Victoria competition in Term 4 of 2023, and Terms 1, 2, and 3 of 2024.    

As well as acknowledging our sporting achievements, we heard from our guest speakers Megan Dickinson and Sarah Rowe. Megan is the Co-Founder of The Live Life Whole Project; a preventative health education program designed by a team of health professionals and supported by a team of elite women in sport. The Project provides the next generation of girls the knowledge and tools they need to support the unique health and wellbeing needs of a female in life and in sport. Sarah is a triple code athlete having played Gaelic Football for Mayo in Ireland, A-League for Melbourne Victory and now AFLW for Collingwood. Sarah provided an insight into her incredible journey in sport and emphasised the important role that good nutrition and quality sleep have played in her success.   

Our award recipients are listed below. The Excellence Award is given to an outstanding performer and considers physical ability, performance consistency and resilience to perform under pressure. The Coaches Award is received by an outstanding team contributor and considers attitude, enthusiasm, and leadership towards establishing a positive environment within a team.    

We also announced the recipient of the Sport Team of the Year Award. Nominations were open to all members of the School community, with the winning team selected by members of the Sports Department. The winner of the award for 2024 was our Intermediate GSV Softball Team. This Team of Year 9s and 10s completed a dominant season, going through undefeated to win the A Grade GSV Premiership.
