GSV Carnival Sport

• Cross Country 

Our runners put in a tough term of training which culminated in some excellent performances during the GSV Carnivals.   

It was our largest team of runners for several years, with 48 students competing in the Preliminary Carnival and 36 at the Championship Carnival.   

St Catherine’s finished in sixth place in the Division 2 Championship Carnival. Charlotte Roe (Year 8), Emma Peele (Year 10), and Lily Van der Venne (Year 10) all finished in the top 10 in their age categories.    

GSV Weekly Sport

• Hockey 

For the first time in our history, St Cath’s entered five Hockey teams, with one Senior, two Intermediate and two Junior teams taking to the pitch each week. All Teams were incredibly competitive throughout the term. 

• Netball 

The Intermediate A Netball Team won four of their six games to secure a spot at the GSV Finals. After winning their quarter final against Our Lady of Sion (20-16), they bowed out with a close loss to Sacre Coeur (16-21) to finish third overall out of the 22 teams in the A grade Competition.   

Congratulations to Camille Brownjohn (Year 10) who was selected for the GSV Representative Team.   

• Water Polo 

Our Team of Year 10s mixed it with teams made up of Year 11 and 12s and impressively qualified for the GSV Finals. After a semi-final loss to the eventual premiers, St Cath’s re-grouped to win their third-place playoff against Mentone Girls.  AFL 

While it was a tough season for both our Junior and Senior AFL Teams, our footy players never gave up. One of the highlights of the season was the annual Huntingtower/Heyington Shield match against Lauriston which saw a big crowd support our Team, while also raising funds for the Breast Cancer Network of Australia. Congratulations to Year 12 student Emma Hoban who was voted best on ground.    

We look forward to commencing Term 3 Sport after the break, with training for Soccer, Badminton and Track & Field all starting in Week 1, as well as the House Snowsports weekend on July 20-21.
