Meet our Beaulieu Blair House Captains

Get to know our 2024 Beaulieu Blair House Co-Captains, Abigail Chan and Soraya Leos.
How did you feel when you were elected as a House Captain?

Abigail Chan

Abigail: When I got elected House Captain I felt extremely happy, and I was jumping up and down screaming at the same time.

Soraya: When I was elected as House Captain for Beaulieu Blair, my heart instantly filled with delight, exhilaration, and excitement. I was so overjoyed when Ms McArdle announced my name. I was so proud that I was voted for as I had only returned to the school in the middle of last year after a few years living in Sydney! That gave me pride knowing that my fellow peers and friends believed that I would be a great leader but also for them to lead me too. I really am grateful for my position, and I am determined to lead my House to victory! GO BEAULIEU!

Why did you choose to nominate for a student leadership position?

Abigail: I nominated for a student leadership position to make the School Values known to my peers in BB.

Soraya: I chose to nominate for a student leadership position because I really love all aspects of school life and try to always do my best, whether it be Sports or Public Speaking. I understand that everyone has different strengths and I believe I have the ability to recognise them all beyond just my circle of friends. In the process of being House Captain I hope to improve my personal leadership skills as well.

Can you share some of the things you want to achieve in this captaincy role?

Soraya Leos

Abigail: Some things I want to achieve in this captaincy role are getting better at public speaking and not being scared of getting up and speaking to a big crowd.

Soraya: I would love to achieve first place for Beaulieu Blair in all House events throughout the year! I would also love to implement a new House event, where each House chooses a charity to support, and students and their families can complete a fun run and collect sponsorship from friends and relatives to complete their category (e.g., 5km or 10km). The House with the highest amount of money raised wins!

What does being a St Catherine’s girl mean to you?

Abigail: Being a St Catherine’s girl to me means being caring, independent and kind.

Soraya: To me, being a St Catherine’s girl means always persevering to reach your personal best whilst being kind and having integrity. It means always having the opportunity to learn and reach my goals. I know that being a blue ribbon girl is a privilege and we should always look for ways to show gratitude and care for those less fortunate than us.
