Carolyn began her entrepreneurial journey just a year after leaving the School gates. In 1992, at 18 years of age and studying at university, Carolyn purchased a small Melbourne muesli business for $1,000. What began as making muesli part-time for local cafés has since grown into Carman’s Kitchen, one of Australia’s most loved food brands, exporting wholesome snacks and breakfast products to more than 30 countries around the world.

In the early days, Carolyn would deliver her products herself, often parking her small Daewoo among the semi-trailers at supermarket loading docks. Over the past three decades, that determination, combined with a commitment to creating food made from real, whole ingredients has helped build Carman’s into Australia’s leading muesli brand and a trusted name in nutritional snacks.

Carolyn’s entrepreneurial leadership has been widely recognised. She was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2007) and Telstra Australian Businesswoman of the Year (2012), and in 2026 the highest accolade, the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).

She is also a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and continues to invest in leadership learning, recently completing executive programs at Oxford (2025) and Harvard (2026).

Beyond business, Carolyn is deeply committed to giving back to the community. She serves as an Ambassador for Breast Cancer Network Australia and Create Impact and supports a range of philanthropic initiatives close to her heart.

At home, Carolyn and her husband are enjoying raising their four children, and she will often say that family is what makes the journey so meaningful.
