Victorian Interschools Snowsports Junior Champion Girls!
What a fantastic way to welcome back the Victorian Interschool Snowsports Championships at Mt Buller for 2022. After a successful St Catherine’s House weekend, we had 53 students competing and representing St Catherine’s across both the Junior and Senior Schools.
In a remarkable display of determination and depth, St Catherine’s won both the overall Primary and Senior School Championships. Our Senior School has held onto the overall Secondary School Championship since 2014! This is an extremely impressive return to the slopes, after a couple of years away.
It was a bumpy start to the week with some extremely windy and dangerous conditions at Mt Buller for our Junior School competitors, as events were postponed and cancelled. Many of our Division 4, 5 and 6 competitors had no room for error as they were only allowed one run!
Our Division 6 dream team with Camilla (Millie) Wilkins (Year 1), Camilla Koidl (Year 2) and Henrietta (Henri) Switkowski (Year 1) showed what they were made of as their team finished second in their first ever Victorian Interschools.
Year 11 student, Mietta Passon had an incredible week of racing across all disciplines (even snowboarding!) and received the Bernd Greber Cup. This is an individual award presented to the best female secondary skier across each of the following events: Alpine GS, Ski Cross, and Moguls. Well done Mietta on a very impressive achievement!
Congratulations to all girls representing St Catherine’s in their pale blue on the mountain throughout the week. Some incredible performances and results from all our teams.

A special mention to all those who participated in the week’s events the St Catherine’s way – participating in each event including snowboarding. This is a tremendous effort and displays the true St Catherine’s spirit, leading our Snowsports Team to victory. Congratulations to Avalon Pascoe, Piper Pascoe, Amelie Snell-Bliss, Indi Cunningham, Mietta Passon and Mia Foreman. We are looking forward to many others following your lead next year!
Most importantly we could not have run the St Catherine’s Snowsports program without the help and support of all the parents and volunteers, a big thank you!
Goodluck to all 24 students who will be representing St Catherine’s at the Nationals next week in Perisher, NSW.
