Looking Back and Moving Forward

Term 4 is a time for change for our Year 6 students.

In the first week of term the girls experienced their first Outdoor Education Camp as Junior School leaders when they attended Camp Jungai.

They had the opportunity to canoe, build rafts, orienteer, camp out in tents with their friends, learn valuable knowledge from the First Nation’s educator, Aunty, as well as many other experiences.

Their time at Camp fostered and strengthened their teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving skills. The students who attended the Camp had a great adventure, achieved personal goals, and embraced all opportunities. The students are looking forward to completing Year 6 in a strong and triumphant manner as they participate in the end of year celebrations to commemorate their time in Barbreck.

“I liked the bush walk and the possum pull because they were new experiences for me, and it gave me a chance to be outside and enjoy nature. I am looking forward to Year 7 because of the opportunities that I will be able to have.” Tavia

“I enjoyed learning how to canoe and I liked how we got so muddy during the raft building. Camp gave me a new perspective about the outdoors, and I was able to conquer my fear of heights on the possum pull. I am looking forward to the end of year celebrations for Year 6.” Emmanuella

“This term I am looking forward to learning new skills in aerobics and the St Catherines’ Iron Girl. Next year, when I transition to the Senior School, I am excited about meeting new friends, going to Camp and having different teachers for each subject.” Charlotte.

“For my final term in Year 6, I am looking forward to Bike Ed and riding to different places. Also, I am eager to graduate from Junior School and move to Year 7 where there are many subjects to explore and learn.” Cheryl.
