Class of ’23: Sienna Rosham

As their time as students enters the final chapter, a number of our Class of 2023 reflect on their Life at St Catherine’s.

Life at St Catherine’s: Sienna Rosham
Class of 2023

What have been the highlights of your time at St Catherine’s?

Definitely being a part of the Year 12 Cohort and getting to wear the blue jumpers.

What were your favourite subjects?

Media and Studio Arts!

Can you describe a significant academic achievement or project you’re proud of?

Very proud of myself when I finally finished my Studio Arts Portfolio last year after sleepless nights and the way I learned from this to stay consistent with my folio in Media this year.

How do you handle challenges or setbacks in your academic pursuits?

I adapted the growth mindset, believing that if it didn’t pay off this time, that working harder to adapt feedback and learn content would definitely pay off next time.

What do you plan to study post School?
I plan to study Fashion Design.

Where do you hope to study?

At RMIT or internationally at Parson’s.

How do you believe St Catherine’s and your teachers have helped you reach your goals?

All of my teachers were always so supportive of my passion and without a direct Fashion class at St Catherine’s it was sometimes hard for them to understand my passion, however, by constant encouragement and interest in my interest all my teachers helped me to strive harder to reach my goal of studying Fashion. Specifically evident when I was able to exhibit my VET Fashion Design works at the VCE Art Show.

What are your short-term and long-term career goals after graduating from school?

My short term goals are to grow my business, to reach out to businesses who need help managing their social media and to get a retail job over Christmas.

My long term goals are to run three successful fashion-based businesses, including a name label, to start a social media management agency that is successful in managing fashion and lifestyle-based businesses, social media pages and to open a retail store for my own brand.

What skills or knowledge have you gained during your education that you believe will be valuable in your future career?

Working as a team as we were all leaders, to compromise with different people and their opinions and how to grow and adapt them in conjunction with my own and how to apply feedback correctly by listening to what my teachers said, not only about my physical work but also my work ethic.

In 2023, the Year 12 theme was ‘Conquer.’ What does this mean to you?

Conquer means to achieve and to strive for your best and I believe that this year I have been driven in my schoolwork and academics as well as my personal endeavours.

What advice would you provide to future Year 12 students?

Work hard but reward yourself with the necessary breaks.

Have a goal but be reasonable in your approach to it, we are students not rocket scientists!

You will get a good grade on some things and not others, it is inevitable but don’t define your self worth off your grades.

Don’t punish yourself for failure and have a good work and life balance.

Find your passion. As soon as passion is lit everything falls into place. For me it is becoming a fashion designer. It drives me every day to wake up and to go to bed and in one way or another impacts everything I do. For example, the work ethic in school all comes from knowing that once my exams are all over, all I need to do is build my pathway for my future with a sturdy foundation below me.
