Class of 2020

“And suddenly you know. It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of new beginnings” – Meister Eckhart

VCE Results

We are thrilled to celebrate our Year 12 cohort who have achieved remarkable academic results across a broad range of subjects. Their success is testament to the fortitude, diligence and perseverance shown by each student in the most extraordinary of circumstances. As an open entry School, we are proud of the achievements of all students and are excited to hear in the coming days of their tertiary placements both locally and abroad.

Unquestionably, the Class of 2020 has shaped the rich fabric of our almost 125 year history, and today is a reminder that their hopes and dreams have not been lost to COVID, that they are now ready to continue building enthusiastically for the excitement that lies ahead.

Our 2020 Dux

We extend our congratulations to our 2020 St Catherine’s School Dux, Romy Cantwell.

There is much indeed that is impressive in relation to Romy’s contribution to life at St Catherine’s. As Davis House Co-Captain, she has led by example with her commitment and positivity, while her infectious sense of fun and competitive spirit has encouraged other students to become involved throughout the year. This extensive involvement has been recognised with Romy achieving well-deserved House Colours in 2020. Romy is also the worthy recipient of the Dark Blue Award for Academic Excellence and Light Blue Award for Performance in Rowing.

A hardworking athlete, Romy has been a member of numerous sporting teams including GSV Swimming and Rowing. Her significant and successful involvement in Rowing saw her crew, the First VIII, achieve a first-place finish at the Henley Regatta and the Victorian State Rowing Championships. As Co-Captain of Boats for 2020, Romy was awarded Full Colours for Rowing. Additionally, Romy was the recipient of the Thora Jex Memorial Award for Sporting Enthusiasm in 2019 and awarded Contribution Sport Colours in 2020.

Romy has balanced her extensive contribution to the broader life of the School, with an equally impressive commitment to her academic program. She is a hardworking and diligent student who approached her studies with enthusiasm and positivity. Always one with a friendly smile and greeting, Romy is a student who supports her peers and who has established strong and enduring friendships within the year group and, indeed, throughout the School community.

We are so proud of you Romy and wish you well beyond the Heyington Gates

Naplan Results – 2021

In 2022 St Catherine’s School has again obtained exceptional NAPLAN results. In every test, at each Year level, St Catherine’s students have significantly outperformed State and National data, without exception.

The tables below, show in more detail how our students performed against the rest of the state. For example, at Year 3, in Reading, almost 100% of our students performed above 50% of the state. In Writing, the figure is 100%. The Numeracy data at Year 3 is equally compelling. More than 50% of the girls are performing better than the top 25% in the state. At Year 5, it is Reading which shows a real strength in their performance.

Other Year levels show similar levels of performance. In Year 9, the Numeracy data shows more than 50% of our girls are in the top 25% of the State. At Year 7, it is Writing that also shows a similarly high level of achievement.

In each of the tests completed by our students: Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation and Numeracy, and across every Year level, the girls are achieving at a high standard even with the complications of the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
