Throughout 2021, I completed my Dark Blue Leadership Diploma, organising a Big Freeze Fundraiser, with all money raised invested into vital research to find effective treatments and a cure for Motor Neuron Disease (MND).

My father was diagnosed with MND months before I was born and passed away when I was five. This has made me extremely passionate about this cause.

It only takes a minute to donate and any money you can give (no matter how large or small) will go a long way to helping me reach my target and supporting those who are fighting MND.

My 2021 fundraiser raised over $12,000, and it was a wonderful event bringing our School community together again on campus, after many months of difficult lockdowns.

From these positive outcomes in 2021, I was encouraged to repeat the fundraiser in 2022, and I plan to continue supporting the FightMND organisation in 2023.

The 2022 Big Freeze Fundraiser was held yesterday and involved both teachers and students being dunked into freezing water to replicate the symptoms sufferers of MND experience.

Our energetic crowd from both the Senior and Junior Schools were supporting the cause with an AFL Football Team theme. Those being dunked were dressed as famous characters. This was a lovely way to enhance the entertainment, especially for the Junior School girls.

The strength of the St Catherine’s community is so well highlighted during fundraisers like these. Our teachers, families, and students always contribute in any way they can, donating money or being dunked, this emphasises our School community’s incredibly giving nature.

I am so lucky to have been able to create a fundraiser in such a supportive community. Thank you to all the teachers and students who stepped up to be dunked yesterday, and everyone who has donated or purchased beanies so far. Your commitment to my cause is humbling and I am forever grateful.
