Spoonville began in an English village. It was then brought to Australia by a woman in Gippsland, who saw her friend create her own Spoonville in the UK. There are now over 200 Spoonville villages across Victoria.

Spoonville is a way for communities to share their art and watch their Spoonville village grow. It also makes us feel good when we are creative with our family and friends.

In Art we made our own Spoonville characters, for our own Spoonville village at the front of Barbreck between the fence and the footpath.

Students have had such great fun watching our Spoonville village grow with all our characters made by our Barbreck School friends.

“Prep to Year 6, we all get to decorate a spoon and I love it because we all get to see people’s ideas” – India (Year 4)

Students learnt about public art which required community involvement and explored the work of Lisa Roet (‘84).
