A Celebration of Learning

Last week, the children in the Banksia Room had their end of year concert. The concert is the culmination and celebration of our year together in the Early Learning Centre.

The children began planning their concert during our Learning Meetings. This initially involved sharing their knowledge about concerts and reflecting on what they had learnt about this year. As their discussions evolved, it quickly became obvious that the children wanted their concert to reflect the thinking and inquiry work undertaken throughout the year.

The children in the Banksia Room planned their end of year concert during their Learning Meetings.

The concert has been a collaborative project where the children expressed their ideas and imagination. Together they have written a story, chosen their characters, illustrated their book, and selected and voted on songs. Through this process, the children have engaged in many different languages to plan and create their concert. The children displayed infectious enthusiasm in the lead up to this special day as they tried to keep the concert a surprise from their loved ones.

The children in the Banksia Room did a remarkable job remembering their roles and the lyrics of songs at their end of year concert.

The children arrived with great excitement and educators focused on encouraging the children to try their best and have fun. The children did a remarkable job remembering their roles and the lyrics of songs. It was a wonderful way to celebrate their learning journey in the Banksia Room this year.
