St Catherine’s wins at Victorian Interschools Cross Country

We are very excited to let everyone know that St Catherine’s Senior and Junior school divisions were successful in winning the Victorian Interschools Cross Country Championships in the Girls’ School Division at Mt Buller last weekend.

It was a great effort by your daughters! It was also really exciting to see some new faces and girls participating who have not done Cross Country before.

Conditions were very different to last year. The course was relocated due to the 110km winds expected for Sunday and changed to a time trial event.

Mr Tom Crebbin held training sessions on Saturday and showed the girls the new course, while Mr Lloyd Knight was busy behind the scenes constantly updating Team App with all the new changes.

After training on Saturday we all attended a social function at Black Cockatoo. Parents enjoyed a drink and nibbles while the girls had a team dinner with some words of encouragement from Mr Crebbin and Mr Knight to ‘give it a go and make every stride count’. This, they certainly did!

The girls looked fabulous in their pale blue St Catherine’s tops. They raced with determination to catch that girl in front of them.

After all the hard work, blizzard conditions, race delays due to electrical storms, it was great to see the outstanding effort by each girl who participated.

A warm thank you to all parents who helped set up the St Catherine’s tent and who helped in volunteer positions. Thank you also to our amazing sports staff, Tom and Lloyd. All your help is very important in the smooth running of Interschools events and your assistance is much appreciated by the Snowsports Auxiliary.
