It has been a well-deserved break for many of our sporting students after a very big and exciting term full of sport.  

SSV Netball Team: Imogen Brownjohn 

We are excited to announce that Year 6 student, Imogen Brownjohn, has been selected into the School Sport Victoria (SSV) 12 Years and Under Netball Team. The SSV Team will represent Victoria at the upcoming National Championships in Melbourne.  

This is a fantastic achievement for Imogen, who has gone through a rigorous selection process with many trials taking place throughout last term.   

Good luck Imogen and we cannot wait to cheer you on!  

SSA Swimming Championships: Abigail Chan & Mariella Simmons 

An abundance of amazing and exciting news to share with everyone this week as two of our Year 6 students, Abigail Chan, and Mariella Simmons, have been selected to represent Team Victoria in the School Sport Australia (SSA) Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast next week.  

We wish Abigail and Mariella good luck as they compete next week! 

SSV State Cross Country Champs: Ingrid Tan 

This week, Year 5 student, Ingrid Tan, competed in the School Sport Victoria (SSV) State Cross Country Championships on Thursday 18 July at the Yarra Vally Racing Club.  

This was a huge achievement for Ingrid to make, and compete, at the state level. Despite some rain showers and an extremely muddy course, Ingrid finished 42nd in the state, an incredible effort!

District AFL 

In the final week of Term 2, some of our talented Year 6 students were selected to represent St Catherine’s in the Armadale District AFL Competition.  

For some, it was their very first time playing AFL and the students loved learning a new sport. We were very lucky to have some extraordinary coaching talent with Mr Crebbin coming out of retirement and Mr Russell teaching and coaching the girls on this day.  

It was an action-packed and exciting day for all students involved. St Catherine’s went from strength to strength during the Competition and ended up finishing fourth overall.  

Impressive performances from the super-talented Nina Calvert and her partnership with Imogen Brownjohn playing ruck, the girls became an unstoppable duo out of the middle. Fantastic goal-kicking from Soraya Leos in the forward line was also a standout. All the girls had smiles on their faces and enjoyed the day!
