Barbreck Voices: JS Co-Captains

Hello, everyone! It’s Nina and Samara, the 2024 Barbreck Co-Captains.
We wanted to share some highlights from our first few months as Captains. It’s been a fun term filled with assemblies and unique experiences. We’ve had a fantastic time running weekly assemblies with all sorts of activities, from Taylor Swift quizzes to a very special gender reveal for Miss Wootton!
The role of Barbreck Co-Captains has given us lots of incredible new experiences, challenges, and strengths. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store!
One of the most memorable moments from Term 1 was Miss Wootton’s baby gender reveal. When she announced her pregnancy, Samara and I immediately asked if we could plan a gender reveal for her. Miss Wootton, being super kind, agreed, and we started planning the big surprise. On the day, we had two small confetti cannons and a giant balloon, which we popped to reveal that she was having a boy! The blue confetti flying over the Village Green was an incredible sight, and everyone loved it—even the teachers! It was a moment we will never forget.
We have also enjoyed running assemblies with quizzes, interviews, and other fun activities. Being Captains has given us a chance to implement our ideas and see them come to life. It’s been amazing to lead, knowing that people look up to us. One of the best parts has been having the Prep students come up to us in the playground to say hello. It’s a feeling we will cherish for a long time.
It’s been a pleasure working with Miss Wootton in Term 1 and now with Mr Russell in Term 2. They’ve both been fantastic guiding us and supporting our ideas. We’ve had an awesome start to our captaincy journeys. We are excited to tackle new challenges and activities in the coming months.
Thank you for reading, and we look forward to keeping you updated on all the exciting things happening in Barbreck. See you at Assembly!
