As we commence Term 2, we look back at some of our School’s sporting prowess shining brightly over the last few weeks of Term 1. Let’s dive into the highlights!

Historic Swimming Season

Throughout the season, our swimmers showcased outstanding talent, culminating in a series of historic achievements.

Several athletes distinguished themselves by qualifying for the prestigious SSV State Swimming Championships in their respective events. Six girls represented St Catherine’s at the Championships on Friday 19 April in five different events.

  • Mariella Simmons emerged as a standout performer, clinching first place in the Individual 50m Freestyle and an impressive third place in 50m Backstroke.
  • Kimberly Chen’s exemplary performance earned her second place in the Butterfly event.
  • The 11-Year-Old Freestyle Relay Team displayed remarkable teamwork and skill, securing an impressive second place in a very close finish at the finals.

However, the pinnacle of the day was undoubtedly the Open Medley Relay which unfolded as a spectacle of talent and determination. Mariella’s awe-inspiring comeback in the final leg propelled our Team to a sensational victory, leaving spectators in awe of their extraordinary performance as they finished in first place and beat the record by a full five seconds. Each Team member was a vital part of the overall success!

We are incredibly proud of every student’s exemplary swimming success this season.
