Personal Success from Camp Challenges

Earlier this term, our Year 4 girls attended the Years 3&4 Camp at Gundiwindi Lodge in Silvan. This was an amazing experience for everyone involved. The three days were filled with many fun activities for the girls to strengthen and extend their personal and social capabilities, including:

  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Leadership
  • Decision-making

The challenges they undertook enabled them to set personal goals, which they were encouraged to achieve by both the adults supporting them and their peers.

Here are some of the personal learning successes experienced by our girls:

“My two greatest challenges were leaving my parents because I get homesick and feeling really scared about going on the giant swing. However, I learned to just give things a go. It will always be for a good reason if someone encourages you to.”

“My greatest challenge of all at Camp was the Giant Swing. I was terrified and pulling the rope was so HARD. What I learnt about myself was that by overcoming things, I get stronger.”

“I was really proud of myself because I had a fear of heights but still went to the top on the giant swing because my fellow peers encouraged me to.”

I’ve had an amazing first experience of camp. I overcame my fear of being away from my family and I was very happy there!”
