Ethical Leadership Program Launched

The launch of the St Catherine’s School Year 9 Ethical Leadership Program on Thursday 27 March was an evening of reflection, engagement, and meaningful discussion. More than just an event, it provided an opportunity to explore the fundamental questions that shape individuals and the world they seek to build.

Lady Marigold Southey AC shared insightful reflections on the program’s origins, which was first hosted in the grounds of her family home at Cranlana. Moya Mills, Executive Director of the Cranlana Programme Foundation, spoke about the “social contract” that binds people across generations, emphasising the responsibility to act not only for the present but for those who have gone before and those yet to come. The post-discussion Q&A further deepened the conversation, reinforcing the importance of ethical leadership in the community.

The following morning, Principal Natalie Charles introduced the 2025 pilot program to the Year 9 students. She acknowledged the challenges of adolescence in today’s world and highlighted the importance of creating a space for young people to engage with fundamental questions about individual and collective responsibility. The students’ curiosity and engagement demonstrated their eagerness to explore these conversations, helping them navigate the complexities of life with purpose and integrity.

A heartfelt thank you to Lady Southey AC, Ms. Moya Mills, Executive Director of the Cranlana Programme Foundation, Mr. Matt Finnis, CEO of the Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership, Ms. Lisa Hanlon, St Catherine’s Director of Teaching and Learning, Ms. Natalie Charles, as well as the parents, staff, and special guests who contributed to such a meaningful evening.

The conversations sparked at the launch are only the beginning—may they continue to inspire thoughtful leadership and ethical decision-making in the years to come.
