A Collaborative Project…

Over the course of this term, the children in the Early Learning Centre (ELC) have embarked on a whole centre project. As a continuation of their learning about Indigenous culture and history, the children have been working together to discuss, plan, design and construct representations of ‘Bunjil’ the eagle.

The children in the Early Learning Centre (ELC) have embarked on a whole centre project.

Through their discussions and planning, the children decided that they would like to create two representations of Bunjil, one in the form of a wire sculpture and the other a clay sculpture. The children from all classes have been actively involved in and contributed to each of the phases of the project from discussion to design to construction.

The children have been working together to construct representations of ‘Bunjil’ the eagle.

This has been a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience peer learning and team work. A sense of community has also been evident through their work together.

The children look forward to sharing their work with their parents at our upcoming event ‘Campbell House Twilight Encounters’ where parents and children will continue to work on aspects of this collaborative project.

Campbell House Twilight Encounters

ELC children and parents are invited to attend our ‘Campbell House Twilight Encounters’ on Thursday 12 September. Children and parents will attend in small groups between 4.00pm and 6.00pm. The first part of the event will involve the children conducting a learning discussion with their parents. The second part will be a hands-on experience for parents and children as work continues on our collaborative project. The children are very much looking forward to sharing their learning at this exciting event.
