Tournament of Minds Competition

Last week, 14 girls from Years 7 and 8 participated in the annual Tournament of Minds Competition.

There were two groups of students representing St Catherine’s School. One chose the Engineering Mathematics challenge and my group chose the Language Literature challenge. We met every Tuesday after school and, with the help from Ms Kim Waters, prepared our tasks and worked on strategies for success.

On the day, we were required to perform two separate challenges. The first was a pre-written humorous script based on the Maze Runner, and the second was an impromptu act where we only had a few minutes to work on our entry. It was nerve-racking and there was plenty of fierce competition from other teams.

A big congratulations to the Engineering Mathematics team who received an Honours award! I felt privileged to be a part of Tournament of Minds. The challenge clicked our brains into high gear, and it was an experience that took everyone’s creativity to a new level.
