Application For Enrolment
Your child’s education is one of the most important decisions you can make about their future. To assist in the navigation of this process below is a typical step-by-step process. Please note this is a general process and if your child is not enrolling for the start of the year these steps may vary.
As we are a non-selective School, students are placed on our waiting list according to the date on which we receive your Application for Enrolment Form. Our places fill quickly, so we advise families to send in the Application for Enrolment along with the Application Fee (non-refundable) and other required documentation as early as possible.
We invite you to visit the campus, meet our students, Principal and staff at one of our Open Mornings. We also welcome Scholarship applications from students not yet attending St Catherine’s as well as current students.
The Prospectus provides an insight into our School, and also includes a hard copy of the Application for Enrolment, private School bus information for Williamstown and Brighton suburb areas and other relevant information to the year level your child is enrolling in. Request a Prospectus online or contact us.
We encourage you to submit an Application for Enrolment as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Once an application is submitted you will receive a copy of St Catherine’s News, a biannual magazine keeping the St Catherine’s community informed of recent news and events.
All applications require:
- the Application for Enrolment Form
- Application Fee (non-refundable)
- a birth certificate or passport.
International applicants must also include their Visa (or Visa type they intend to apply for).
Once the application is received you will receive a receipt of application and your child’s name will be placed on a waiting list for the Year and Level nominated.
A good way to learn more about our School is to attend an Open Morning or personal tour. Our Open Mornings are run throughout the year and offer a tour of our School campus led by students (ELC is guided by staff), meet the Principal and other relevant staff members.
Once your child’s application is considered, you will be contacted by the School to arrange an interview with either our School Principal or Head of ELC and Junior School. Prior to the interview taking place any current school reports will need to be submitted. Following the interview students undertake basic literacy and numeracy assessments to determine their educational needs.
Boarding families based interstate or overseas will be required to have an enrolment interview via video conferencing with the Head of Boarding.
A formal Offer of place into the School may be made following the enrolment interview and an Entrance Fee (non-refundable) is required immediately to accept a place. Once payment has been received, formal confirmation of the place is provided.
Students beginning in 3YO, Prep, Year 7 or Boarding participate in a formal orientation program where they meet fellow students and teachers for the year ahead.
All other Junior School students and their families are invited to attend an Information Session prior to the year commencing.
Upper Year levels of Senior School students will also be consulted early and meet with our Careers Advisor to select subjects.
Prior to commencement the family will receive an information pack which includes information about the Uniform Shop, first day outline, password for mystcatherines Parent Portal, consent forms, book lists and other useful information.
If starting at the beginning of a year, new students start a day earlier allowing them time to find their way around the campus, meet fellow students and teachers and collect their student diary and set their locker up. This allows students to feel completely organised and ready for the School year ahead.
