Supporting Sustainability Through Philanthropy

Supporting Sustainability

Since its redevelopment in 2018, Barbreck has been harnessing the sun’s energy with an impressive installation of solar panels. the solar panels were generously donated by Mr Dean and Mrs Julie-Anne Pagnin, whose daughter Claudia has been a student at St Catherine’s since commencing in the ELC.

The Barbreck solar panels are connected to a sustainability display monitor which is located in the Barbreck Library. The sustainability display iPad provides an interactive dashboard that provides students and staff with an easy-to-understand snapshot of energy input and output. The renewable energy being generated by the solar panels contributes to the ‘grid’ and assists in reducing greenhouse emissions.

Our Junior School students enjoy tracking and monitoring daily progress of the weather data from Melbourne’s four seasons in one day climate. The solar panels also provide a splendid example to our students on the importance of sustainable living practices to reduce pollution and conserve natural energy resources.

We extend our sincere thanks to Dean and Julie-Anne for their conscientious and generous support of our School’s environmental footprint.

Thank you to the Pagnin Family for their generous donation of Barbreck’s solar panels

Save Your Seat – Donor Thank You Event

A special donor ‘Thank You’ breakfast is being planned for Semester 2. The event will acknowledge and thank the outstanding generosity of over 300 current and past St Catherine’s families, along with members of our Old Girls’ community.

Over $440K was raised by these wonderful donors in just one day, helping us to deliver our new St Catherine’s Sports Centre. The event also provides a fitting opportunity to introduce our donors to their named seats.

During the Save Your Seat Annual Giving Day, 376 seats were available for naming in the Sports Centre, 357 seats have been named to date. Nineteen silver seats remain unnamed.

Invitations to the event will be extended in due course.

Thank you again to our generous School community. It has been wonderful to see all our students enjoying the new Sports Centre throughout this week, with a whole School Assembly in the new space held on Monday and lots of sport already being enjoyed.
