BA (Hons), LLB (Melb)
Genevieve Brammall (Lally ’89) is National Head of PR & Talent Relations at News Corp Australia.
Genevieve grew up in Kyabram, Victoria and attended St Catherine’s School as a boarder. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne, her ‘nose for news’ and talent for writing led her to a career in Journalism rather than the Law.
Commencing as a cadet at the Herald Sun in 1996, Genevieve’s career at News Corp Australia has spanned 30 years across journalism, custom magazine publishing, sponsorship and partnership management, event management, corporate affairs, trade and consumer communications, and most recently, building and leading the company’s Consumer PR & Talent Relations function across Australia. During this time Genevieve has driven business growth across publications including The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, The Advertiser, The Courier-Mail, The Australian, news.com.au, Vogue Australia, and GQ Australia.
In 2023, Genevieve was the recipient of the B&T Women in Media PR Leader of the Year Award.
Genevieve’s support for the media industry includes serving on the Melbourne Press Club Board for 10 years and as a judge of the Melbourne Press Club Quill Awards and the Communications and Public Relations Australia Golden Target Awards. She has created masterclasses for professional development among her peers and colleagues, and has mentored the next generation of young PR professionals, both formally and informally. Genevieve has also served on the RMIT Public Relations Advisory Board and the City of Melbourne’s Moomba Advisory Board and Spring Fashion Week Advisory Board.
Genevieve has always been actively involved in the local community – at her children’s schools, sporting associations, not-for-profit organisations – organising events, managing fundraising activities, and liaising with various stakeholders. She has served on the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute Development Board and is Chair of Herald Sun Transurban Run for the Kids, an event she helped launch in 2006 which raises funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
A passionate sports fan, Genevieve helped introduce the first ever paid sponsorship program within the University of Melbourne Netball Club, and serving as chair of the Board of the Hawthorn Basketball Association. Genevieve considers her proudest accomplishment is being mum to her children, Edward (Ned) and Amelia (Mia).
