Young Leaders Conference

Year 12 students will spend this week challenging their perceptions of leadership at Melbourne University

"During the Leadership Conference the girls were encouraged to seize every opportunity, approach all their endeavours with intent and make an impact," says Mrs Gina Peele, Year 12 Dean.

Our Year 12 students are spending their final week of School holidays challenging their perceptions on leadership in preparation for their final year of Senior School at a Leadership Conference at Melbourne University this week.

The Leadership Conference, provided to all Year 12 students by St Catherine’s, provides a platform for students to discuss and explore effective leadership, learning individual styles of leadership, teamwork and the importance of communication and stress management.

“Across the two days of the Conference the girls gain a much deeper understanding of themselves, a clearer focus on what they want to achieve from their final year of School and an even stronger bond with their Year level peers,” says Year 12 Dean, Mrs Gina Peele.

Students participate in numerous workshops that challenge their understanding of leadership as well as learning from keynote speakers. This year Drew Ginn OAM, Olympic triple gold medallists and member of the Oarsome Foursome Rowing team, along with Darren Pereira from Success Integrated and Kylie Bishop, Executive General Manager People and Culture at Medibank Private will provide insights into their careers and personal leadership as well as advice for the students.

“During their workshops both Kylie and Drew encouraged the girls to seize every opportunity, approach all their endeavours with intent and make an impact,” says Mrs Peele.

“As a School we recognise the importance of Year 12 for not only the students but their families as well. The Leadership Conference provides such a positive and meaningful start to their School year,” Mrs Peele says.

The two day Conference will be held in Ormond College, Melbourne University’s largest college from Wednesday 27 to Friday 29 January.
