Top Designs Genius Knows no Bounds

St Catherine’s 2017 Year 12 graduate, Ingrid Crossing’s Theatre Studies costume and makeup designs of the character Old Major from the monologue Animal Farm, were on display as the first piece in the Top Designs Exhibit.

There was some amazing work on display from students who studied VCE Media, Product Design and Technology, Theatre Studies (Design), Systems Engineering, Visual Communication Design and VET Creative Digital Media at the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authorities Top Designs Exhibition at The Melbourne Museum.

Another feather in Ingrid’s cap was receiving one of the five ‘Dean’s Awards’ presented on the night ‘For innovative use of resources’.

“I am incredibly proud of Ingrid’s achievements in Theatre Studies. Her passion, drive, collaborative mindset and creative risk taking saw her excel in not only the Stagecraft Examination, but the subject overall. Watch out for her name, as I imagine she will be involved in some spectacular design projects in the future,” says Head of Performing Arts, Mr James Brown.

“It was a real thrill seeing Ingrid beaming with pride about her work. She had even designed and made her outfit to wear specifically for the event. Genius knows no bounds.”

The Top Design Exhibition will be held at the Melbourne Museum from the 17 March to 15 July. Top Designs is part of the VCE Season of Excellence managed by Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority.
