St Catherine’s crowned Snowsports School of the Year
The St Catherine’s School Snowsports program has a high record of participation and a proud culture of inclusion and encouragement.
“Our Snowsports Program develops skills, independence, sportsmanship and team spirit,” says Michelle Carroll, St Catherine’s Principal. “The fun and excitement of this program, shared by our community, highlights all the positive aspects that a successful sports program can bring.”
St Catherine’s School was awarded SnowSports School of the Year by Ski and Snowboard Australia at their awards ceremony at the Docklands, Melbourne.
Each year in April, Ski & Snowboard Australia (SSA) recognise their athletes and coaches as well as there being two school award categories; “Snowsports School of the Year” and “Outstanding Achievement of the Year for Small Schools” from the Interschools Championships.
St Catherine’s was selected from all schools nationwide and was chosen based on their outstanding contribution to the School Snowsports Program.
St Catherine’s Head of Sport, Lloyd Knight says, “This is an outstanding achievement for St Catherine’s. It recognises the strength of the St Catherine’s School program and the contribution it has made towards the ongoing development of school Snowsports within Australia. This achievement not only highlights the large participation and exceptional performances of our students on the slopes, but also highlights the outstanding support and enthusiasm given by our wider St Catherine’s Snowsports community, including its staff, Auxiliary and parents. This award is a reflection of many years of Snowsports community involvement and participation.”
The St Catherine’s School Snowsports program has a high record of participation and a proud culture of inclusion and encouragement. The program has a culture within the community that has been developed over the past 20 years, encouraging students from Prep to Year 12 to participate in House Snowsports, Interschool Championships and National Championships.

The St Catherine’s Snowsports team are now in full swing getting prepared for what they expect will be another successful year on the slopes.
