Armadale District Tennis Competition

After a rigorous selection process with Mr Crebbin in Term 4 last year, Isabella W and Bella S were selected to represent St Catherine’s in the District Tennis Tournament.

The Tournament took place at Melbourne Girls Grammar School on Monday 13 February. Sixteen students from schools in the Armadale District played against each other to fight it out for the two places in the next round of Division Tennis.

Both girls displayed impressive tennis skills with Bella S playing a very defensive style, making sure she was hitting every ball back and staying in the game. Whilst a determined Isabella W played her very best to compete against some strong players.

After a bright and sunny Monday, Bella S progressed to the finals on Wednesday 15 February, where she finished fourth overall. Congratulations to both girls. It was a fantastic opportunity!

Armadale District Swimming Carnival

On Thursday 16 February, 28 students from Years 4, 5 and 6 were selected to represent St Catherine’s in the Armadale District Swimming Carnival in the first interschool competition for 2023.

In a superb display, St Catherine’s was able to finish second place, just 13 points behind Firbank Grammar School. This outcome was a result of some spirited relays and fantastic individual performances. St Catherine’s also took home the Population Trophy for the fifth consecutive year. The Trophy was accepted by Year 6 Swimming Captains Tania H and Carys D.

Both our individual and relay performances displayed excellence, dedication to training and focus on progression and results. There were impressive performances from Sophia W, Teegan G and Avalon P in the butterfly. Samara G displayed a strong performance in her breaststroke, finishing first in her heat, along with Imogen B, placing first in her backstroke heat.

Whilst there were many memorable moments throughout the day, the excellent freestyle swims by Kimberly C, Isabelle B and Roselyn M in their respective relay races led to St Catherine’s movement up the rankings and gaining crucial points.
