Barbreck Voices – House Captain Reflections – House Athletics Carnival

Ellie – Beaulieu Blair Co-Captain

House Athletics is a great way to bring all the Houses together, to try your hardest, be competitive and most of all have fun.

All the Houses get to cheer on their friends in the races, dress up in their coloured skirts, fairy wings, and more. The sports we competed in were discus, shot put, hurdles, long jump, triple jump, relays and 800m, 100m, and 200m running races.

It was a close competition between all the Houses but in the end, Beaulieu Blair came first, Davis second, Langley third and Homes Kilbride fourth.

After participating in the 200m sprint, the Blue-Ribbon race was held. The Blue-Ribbon race is a 100m sprint in which the top 10 runners in the Junior School compete. Everyone supports their friends as they run the hard race. Overall, this event was such a wonderful experience, and everyone put in amazing efforts.

Berry and Carla – Davis House Captains

House Athletics was a fun day for everyone in Years 3 to 6.

Days like this help our teamwork and agility. We all tried our hardest in all the events. We were encouraged by our other House members. Our favourite event was the hurdles because it pushed you to the limit and it felt like you could do anything.

We also loved the 800m race because so many people throughout all the Houses participated in this optional event. Everyone persisted throughout the day.

In the end, we came in second place to Beaulieu Blair.

Amelia and Jemima – Holmes Kilbride Captains

On Monday, the sun shone as the girls competed in House Athletics.

I would like to congratulate all the girls in all the Houses, especially Holmes Kilbride for trying their best in every event.

It was so great seeing everyone having fun, cheering, and supporting one another. The girls can all feel proud of how they competed. Well done everyone!

Camilla and Tara – Langley Templeton Captains

All girls had to participate in the 100-metre sprint, and the 200 and 800m sprints were optional. The fastest times in these events qualified for the Blue-Ribbon race, which Arabella Foote won.

While we were there Langley had the opportunity to dress up, wear fairy wings and tiaras, as well as cheer on their team.

We all had an amazing day!
