A Lunch Invitation for a Good Cause

Holmes Kilbride House Captains, Ciara Jenkins and Maggie Dryden invited St Catherine’s Senior School to lunch today.

Students from Years 7 to 12 joined Ciara and Maggie in the Sherren House Ballroom to share lunch and each other’s company in support of Beyond Blue’s ‘Big Blue Table’ initiative.

“We were interested in supporting Beyond Blue given the current mental health crisis that has arisen in the post-isolation climate,” Ciara explains. “Both Maggie and I are very passionate about mental health and believe it is a worthwhile cause to support.”

“Over the past few years, the mental health crisis, both within Australia, and in our local community has increased to rates higher than ever before. We wanted to support this initiative as a meaningful way to contribute to destigmatising mental health issues and encouraging everyone to start conversations with the people around them – we need to lift each other up now, more than ever,” says Ciara.

Students donated $2 towards the fundraising initiative as their entry fee into the Ballroom, where they then enjoyed lunch together, music and wellbeing conversation starters shared by Ciara and Maggie. Scroll through the image gallery below to start the conversation in your home and work too.
