2022 Young Team of the Year Finalists
Congratulations to St Catherine’s 2022 First VIII Rowing Crew, selected as 2022 Young Team of the Year Finalists at the 2022 Victorian Sports Awards.
The Awards honour those who have made an exceptional contribution to sport in Victoria. For each award, four finalists were decided by an esteemed voting panel comprising Olympians, former athletes, and Victorian sport administrators from across the state’s sporting sector.

Our 2022 MMXXI Crew join a distinguished history of Australian rowing crews who have successfully competed on the world stage and won at the Henley Royal Rowing Regatta since 1912.
The Henley Regatta is one of the most prestigious and historic rowing events on the world rowing calendar. St Catherine’s MMXXI Crew finished their 2022 season together as the best schoolgirl VIII in the world after taking out the Prince Philip Trophy at the Regatta.
“To make a final at the Henley Royal Regatta is an incredible achievement, however the MMXXI was determined to ensure their last race together would be the best. The Crew took the lead early blasting out of the start, although it remained close through the middle of the race, the MMXXI had control finishing with an epic win to cross the line two-thirds of a length in front of the USA Winter Park Crew,” shares Head of Rowing, Miss Brigette Carlile.
As a School community we congratulate these amazing athletes. The St Catherine’s Rowing Program may be small, but it is certainly mighty.
The 2022 Victorian Sports Awards will be held on Wednesday 7 June 2023.
