Students hit high note with award

A group of rising star musicians at St Catherine’s School in Toorak have taken out a top prize at the Victorian School Music Festival.

Last month, the 25 members of the St Catherine’s Senior Strings won a platinum Award at the orchestra section of the festival following their knockout performance.

The festival provides students with an opportunity to showcase their music skills by playing in some of the state’s premier performing spaces, and to work with leading music educators.

St Catherine’s principal Michelle Carroll said she was impressed and inspired by the students’ commitment to their music.

“I am extremely proud of the recognition they have received,” Mrs Carroll said.

And the School’s Head of Music, Jenny Mathers, congratulated their teacher, Lisa Cook, whose long-term dedication and passion as a teacher she said was greatly valued by the school.
