The crisp mountain air, the thrill of carving through fresh powder, and the warm buzz of ski season. That’s what defined St Catherine’s Girls School’s Snowsports House Weekend of 2025. From 25 to 27 July, a group of 80 participants from Prep through to Year 12 swapped textbooks for skis and boards at Mt Buller. 

Friday was all about the Junior School hitting the snow. Little ones, with some great guidance, got to enjoy some crisp conditions in their Alpine, Snowboard & Cross-Country training. Over 40 Junior School participants absolutely loved being on the mountain, and it was especially great to see six first-time students bravely giving it a go. 

Saturday brought some blizzard weather, but our students showed a lot of grit, determination and resilience. Cross-country skiing time trials turned out to be a real highlight for many, offering a different kind of thrill. Plus, a keen group of two students tackled Moguls, showing serious skill on the challenging terrain. Ms Charles & Mr Gray braved the blistery conditions, and it was wonderful to see them on the mountain, supporting the girls. 

As Sunday dawned, the blizzard subsided, but visibility was poor. The Sunday Alpine session was an amazing way to finish the weekend, with over 70 students making the most of the fresh snow all while enjoying incredible views from the Little Buller Spur racetrack.

We could not have run this amazing weekend without the help of our incredible Snowsports Auxiliary and community. The support provided by all the amazing parents, families and students is commendable.
