Building a Shared Vision

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share a little about my vision in my new role as Director of Sport at St Catherine’s.

It’s a privilege to join this outstanding school with such a proud tradition of empowering girls. I’m genuinely excited to lead the next chapter of our sport program, one grounded in shared purpose and the belief that sport should be a place where every girl can flourish, and as something central to the life and values of the school.

A bit about me: I come from a small school in the countryside of Gloucestershire, United Kingdom, and moved to Australia in 2018. My favourite sport growing up was soccer, and I’m a keen Liverpool supporter (for better or worse!). My wife, Chloe, is originally from Sydney’s Northern Beaches and grew up heavily involved in Nippers, so between us we’ve got land and water covered!

We’ve relocated to Melbourne from Sydney with our two young children, Lyla (5) and Arlo (2), both full of energy and already showing early signs of loving sport. Lyla is currently loving her ‘Little Dribblers’ basketball sessions, so it’s safe to say we’re a fairly active household.

I’d like to offer a heartfelt thank you to Liv Cody for her leadership and care in the Acting Head of Sport role last term. Her commitment and energy ensured a smooth and supportive transition, and I’m very grateful to be building on that foundation.

Over the coming months, my focus will be on:

  • Listening and learning from students, staff, and families
  • Strengthening systems and culture to support both wellbeing and excellence
  • Embedding safety, structure and purpose across all programs
  • Supporting staff with clarity and professional development
  • Ensuring sport at St Catherine’s is inclusive, visible, and sustainable

We’ll also be developing a strategic plan to guide the future of sport, anchored in our school values and the belief that “Nothing is Great Unless it is Good.”  This will be a community-led strategy, shaped by meaningful feedback and collaboration with staff, students, parents, and coaches. Ensuring every voice is heard will be central to building a shared vision we can all be proud of.

If you ever have thoughts or insights about what’s working well, what might need more attention, or what you see as an untapped opportunity for sport at St Catherine’s, I’d really love to hear from you.
