SSV Beachside Division Swimming Carnival

On Friday 7 March, 9 students represented St Catherine’s at the SSV Beachside Division Swimming Carnival. It was an incredible day of racing, and we are so proud of all our girls for their determination, effort, and sportsmanship.

With many highlights and accomplishments throughout the day, one of the standout moments of the day was the 11-Year-Old Freestyle Relay team, who finished in 2nd place, improving their time from Districts by an incredible 5 seconds! Congratulations to Matea Bjazevic, Alina Zhu, Ping Li, and Leticia Campos on an outstanding swim.

Our 12/13-Year-Old Freestyle Relay team also had a phenomenal performance, claiming 1st place with a winning time of 2 minutes and 14.94 seconds. A huge well done to Cate Barry, Arabella Lutz, Adelaide Holland, and Ellie Wang for their amazing teamwork.

We also had some brilliant individual results:

  • Ellie Wang – 1st place in Freestyle (29.58 seconds – a new Division record!)
  • Leticia Campos – 3rd place in Backstroke & 1st place in Butterfly
  • Anja Russ – 2nd place in Breaststroke
  • Ping Li – 3rd place in Breaststroke
  • Ellie Wang – 1st place in Butterfly

Another highlight of the day was the Open Medley Relay, where our team finished in 2nd place, improving their District time by an impressive 20 seconds! Congratulations to Leticia Campos (Backstroke), Cate Barry (Breaststroke), Ellie Wang (Butterfly) and Adelaide Holland (Freestyle).

While our swimmers have been extraordinary over the past few years, it is important to recognise what a huge achievement these results are. To qualify for Regionals, swimmers must place 1st in their event, making this success even more impressive!

We are thrilled to congratulate the following girls who have qualified for the SSV Regional Swimming Carnival on Wednesday 2 April:

  • Ellie Wang – 12/13 YO Freestyle & Butterfly
  • Leticia Campos – 12/13 YO Butterfly
  • 12/13 YO Freestyle Relay Team: Cate Barry, Arabella Lutz, Adelaide Holland, and Ellie Wang

A huge thank you to our amazing coaches from Melbourne Swim Club, Ian & Liam, for their support and guidance in helping our swimmers achieve these fantastic results.

Well done again to all our swimmers—you should be incredibly proud of your efforts. We can’t wait to see what’s next for our team!
